Meet Molekule’s founders.
Molekule was founded out of a critical need to address the adverse impacts of polluted air, a void in the market for purification, and with the goal of using the power of science to destroy indoor air pollution.
As a child, President, co-founder & CTO Dilip Goswami suffered from debilitating asthma and allergies. Frustrated with the lack of available remedies for Dilip’s conditions, his father Dr. Yogi Goswami (Chief Scientist, co-founder) turned to science to address a key culprit: dirty indoor air. Through 25 years of intense scientific research, Dr. Goswami and his research team created a new breakthrough purification technology: PECO (Photo Electrochemical Oxidation), the technology now powering all Molekule air purifiers.
Seeing the role that science played in her brother Dilip’s life, and experiencing the effectiveness of the technology herself, Jaya Rao (co-founder) was also inspired to share PECO technology with the world. Together, the pair of Stanford-educated engineers co-launched Molekule in 2014. Now they, along with the entire Molekule team worldwide, are on a mission to harness the power of science to improve lives and solve some of the world’s greatest problems, beginning with indoor air pollution.

As a professor at the University of Florida, Dr. Yogi Goswami develops a new clean air technology, photo electrochemical oxidation (PECO), to try to address the adverse impacts of polluted air.
Putting PECO to the test
PECO technology undergoes rigorous testing at the University of Florida and University of South Florida to measure the destruction of various pollutants. As a professor at these institutions, Dr. Goswami publishes over 23 reports on his findings.

Launching Molekule
Dr. Goswami’s mission is carried on by his children, Dilip and Jaya, and Molekule is born. Molekule Air, the first air purifier to destroy pollutants at a molecular level, sees major success across the US, earning awards and acclaim for helping people transform their lives.
Launch of Air Mini
Molekule Air Mini arrives: powerful purification for smaller rooms under 250 sq. ft. With the same breakthrough PECO technology as Molekule Air, Air Mini works standalone in small spaces or in tandem with Air to bring pollutant destruction to the entire home.
Air Pro RX rolls out
Molekule launches its first medical-grade, FDA-cleared purifier, Air Pro RX. The 510(k) Class II medical device starts deploying to operating rooms and other critical or high-traffic areas in healthcare facilities for added frontline protection. In addition, it also meets all applicable performance criteria in FDA guidelines for use in reducing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in healthcare settings.

Molekule names one of its first employees, VP of Design Peter Riering-Czekalla as its first Chief Design Officer, to reflect the cemented position of design as a pillar of the company.
Molekule releases game-changing virus results
Testing demonstrates Molekule’s air purification technology inactivates H1N1 flu virus & coronavirus strains. Testing was completed on bovine and porcine coronavirus strains and indicates up to 99.99% inactivation of viral particles with PECO technology.
Coronavirus Response & Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act
Molekule air purifiers become one of the eligible purchases the $54.3B CRRSA grant covers. Enacted in December 2020, it now includes localized air quality protection available for both public & private K-12 schools.
Air Mini & Air Mini+: FDA-cleared
Molekule announces FDA 510(k) clearance for Air Mini & Air Mini+ as Class II medical devices for medical use to destroy bacteria and viruses. This clearance makes Air Mini & Mini+ Molekule’s first FDA-cleared products for medical use in the home.
Helping 4000 local businesses reopen
Molekule launches a giveaway program, donating $1.5M+ in product to support small businesses reopening with cleaner air. Through customer nominations, businesses can receive a free Air Mini purifier to help purify the air for customers & staff.
